Arts & Culture

The Pocono Mountains’ proximity to New York City has created a lively arts community.  Many artists attracted by the country air, mountains and water call the Poconos home.  Galleries dot the area, with many in Stroudsburg and Jim Thorpe.  The Area Arts Councils organize shows for local talent as well as artist’s studio tours and classes for painting, drawing, photography and sculpture.

Even thought the Poconos are rural, there is still plenty of nightlife. Top Jazz musicians play in a number of places and you’ll find bands from New York City often on the entertainment calendars of several bars and restaurants in the area. You can even find nationally known comedians at the Pocono Brewing Company on weekends hamming it up for two shows nightly.
